''Brickellia californica'' is a species of flowering plant in the daisy family known by the common name California brickellbush.〔(Calflora taxon report, University of Calilfornia, ''Brickellia californica'' (Torrey & A. Gray, California Brickelbush )〕 It is native to northern Mexico (Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila) and the western United States (from California north to Oregon and Idaho, east as far as western Texas and the Oklahoma Panhandle.〔(Biota of North America Program 2014 county distribution map )〕 It is a common plant in many habitat types, especially in dry areas.〔Turner, B. Phytologia Memoirs 11: i–iv, 1–272. 〕 ''Brickellia californica'' is a thickly branching shrub growing 5-200 cm (8-80 inches) in height. The fuzzy, glandular leaves are roughly triangular in shape with toothed to serrated edges. The leaves are 1 - 6 centimeters long. The inflorescences at the end of stem branches contain many small leaves and bunches of narrow, cylindrical flower heads. Each head is about 13 millimeters long and wrapped in flat, wide, purplish green overlapping phyllaries. At the tip of the head are a number of long white to pink disc florets.
